I’m not going to lie to you, stretch faux leather fabric is a fantastic product, it’s very robust and easy to work with, plus, it’s very stretchy, which is a property not so many faux leather fabrics have, however, there are some things to always have in mind when working with such a material, and this is what I’m going to talk to you about in this post.
The first one is related to cleaning products you should use.
When you want to clean a stretch faux leather fabric, the first thing you need to avoid is bleach cleaners.
They are extremely damaging because they are going to change the chemical composition of your stretch faux leather fabric, in other words, it’s going to lose its properties and also its texture and feeling!
And I’m sure that you don’t want this happening to you.
The second thing you need to avoid is alcohol in general.
Forget about wiping your stretch faux leather fabric with an alcoholic beverage whenever it has a stain! It’s never going to work and it’s only going to deteriorate the material and make it extremely weak and damaged.

That’s why the only thing I recommend for cleaning your stretch faux leather fabric is warm water with a dry sponge, avoid anything else because the stretching abilities in this fabric is very difficult to maintain especially if you are always exposing it to sunlight and other damaging elements, that’s why the only thing you need to use is warm water.
The second thing you need to avoid is UV rays!
As explained before, sunlight is extremely damaging to stretch faux leather fabric, this is the reason why you need to avoid exposing it as much as possible, however, in some cases, you can’t help it!
For example, in the case of motorcycle upholstery, it’s very difficult to avoid sunlight, that’s why you need to apply a faux leather conditioner at least once every three months, it’s going to protect your stretch faux leather fabric while maintaining its chemical composition and keeping UV rays away from damaging it.
These are the things you need to always have in mind whenever you are working with stretch faux leather fabric, and if you have a question or comments, I will be more than happy to answer them, just post them in the comment section below.
