How to get rid of urine smell from faux leather objects?

July 25, 2018 by Jean-Marc Chateigner 9 Comments

I’m a cat lover, I have three males at home, and I enjoy playing and having fun with them all the time, but there is one nasty thing about male cats I really don’t like, it is the fact that their urine is extremely annoying and smelly!

One day when I came home and I immediately started smelling a horrible smell around the living room, I knew it was cat urine, but I wasn’t sure where it came from!

To best clean faux leahter upholstery, only use DC22 Upholstery Cleaner. Click here to try it!

Indeed, all my male cats are not neutered, I know, very bad decision, but I’m against animal cruelty, God created them for a purpose, so who am I to interfere with His creation and I love having kittens around the house, my son just loves it.

So, back to my urine stained living room, after searching for some few minutes, I realized that one male cat urinated near our sofa, first, then the other two took turn!

Yes, I had a little lake near my sofa, it was stained and smelled like a dumpster!

Urine smell in faux leather items will increase with time, so, the quicker you take action and act, the better.

My wife tried to get rid of it by cleaning it with water and some dry paper towels but it didn’t help, and it was simply hurting our noses and our well-being!!

So after many tries we found the best way to get rid of the urine smell from our faux leather sofa.

Increase your items' luster and durability using this powerful faux leather ccleaner: Click here!

This is what I’m going to share with you, so, follow these instructions:

Here is what you are going to need, however, you need to act very quickly because once the urine dries it will be very difficult to get rid of it, but not impossible:

The first thing is to clean as much urine as possible using a dry cloth, here , you don’t need some chemical products or some special conditioners, just use a dry cloth to get rid of as much urine as possible.

Then before the urine dries, mix half a glass of warm water with a quarter of a glass of white vinegar.

Then simply wipe the infected surface thoroughly until very clean.

White vinegar is a very powerful detergent that is not only going to get rid of the smells, but it will also kill and get rid of yeasts and germs in your faux leather objects.

However, because we are dealing with faux leather objects and items, we have to be very careful because a lot of fabrics will get damaged from too much vinegar, yes, act quickly, but wisely as well.

Always, before applying your vinegar to your affected area, apply a little to a small hidden area, the bottom of a sofa or the inside of a faux leather bag, you need to do this first, apply only a few drops, wait 15 minutes and notice if it lost its color or started shrinking. If this happens, forget about vinegar and do this:

Order a good faux leather cleaner.

Yep, when it comes to expensive objects, rather be safe than sorry, if the vinegar doesn’t work, forget about it and use a good faux leather/ vinyl cleaner, the one I use often is the following: Blue Magic 800 Leather & Vinyl Cleaner

Remember to use the following conditioner to maintain your faux leather objects cracks free: Click here!

This is how to get rid of the urine smell from faux leather objects, if you know other solutions, you can share them in a comment.

The human urine already dried before I was home from work. I used straight white vinegar wiped it up sprayed again let it sit and it still smells horrible. Every time we sit on the couch we smell of the odor. Please help.

White vinegar and water may work for some feline urine messes, but it has certainly not helped with our faux leather recliner Not even in the slightest. I have spent a lot of time trying to get to each nook, cranny, and seam, however the smell is still putrid. It is a good thing we love our female cat as much as we do. I have come to the conclusion this comfy new recliner is going to have to go to the dump. 🙁

I used the vinegar and then put baking soda on my child’s mattress. It took the smell rightvout ! But like the one lady said with the recliner, it didn’t work for me either! I was surprised too! My cat has a urinating problem due to stress ( we flooded and been living a bit stressful) . We got our brand new sectional and she peed on it . Thank god we bought a protection plan ! Praying they can get the smell out because I’m a master at getting smells out , but this material I’m at a loss.

Vinegar and then baking soda? Are you sure it was really those two? Or did you put some time in between? Anyone who has had a school science fair knows that they don’t mix nicely…
