In this post, I’m going to answer a question I received from a reader some few weeks ago: how to make my faux leather chair much more durable?
He was asking this question because his faux leather chair started cracking and peeling from the sides, and he wanted to fix it while also making the remaining faux leather fabric much more durable and even looking good.

It’s not very difficult, I’m going to share with you some amazing techniques to achieve this, however, what you need to understand is that if you don’t apply yourself and use the techniques I’m going to reveal to you to the letter, this will never work for you!
The first technique to make your faux leather chair much more durable is to use the right fatty acids!
I’m sure that the idea of using oil with your faux leather chair is going to sound so strange and so difficult to believe, but it’s the reality, after all, I’ve been using essential oils in my faux leather shop for the last twenty years of my life, and they have helped me fix so many furniture and objects that are made with this fabric.

However, I do not recommend using all the essential oils you can find, what I recommend using is one which is smell and color free, after all, the faux leather fabric is going to absorb the oil and if it’s smelly, like jojoba or almond oil, it’s going to transfer the aromas as well to the fabric and waste it forever!
From my experience, baby oil is by far the best, but there are also so many other natural oils you can use.
Just apply some few drops and wipe very gently with a dry cloth, preferably a very soft one, in fact, I coat most of the faux leather furniture I receive in my shop with a thin layer of fat, this will reinforce the texture while also preserving them from further damages.
You should also start using saddle soap, it’s going to make it much more durable because it’s going to nourish the faux leather fabric while also protecting it and creating a thin layer which is going to prevent UV rays from damaging it, and let me tell you that UV rays found in sunlight and certain artificial lights are extremely damaging.

These are by far the most important advice in order to keep your faux leather chair looking amazing over the years.
