Faux leather bean bag – how to clean and maintain in perfect condition

April 1, 2015 by Jean-Marc Chateigner 2 Comments

When we bought our new house, my wife asked me to buy my son a new bean bag for his room, and I immediately started thinking about acquiring a faux leather one, however, what I didn’t realize back then was how much expensive they are, even when dealing with faux leather beanbags!

I think that the price is justified, after all they require a lot of work and a lot of fabric to make, but the thing I didn’t like was that there aren’t so many quality ones to choose from and this is still the case nowadays.

That’s why I would like to share with you in this post how you can clean and maintain your faux leather bean bag in perfect condition, even when you are dealing with a cheap one which is very fragile and weak as well.

The first step in order to make your faux leather beanbag always look amazing is to clean it the proper way.

There are so many things I can say about cleaning a faux leather bean bag, but from my experience, and trust me, I’ve done more harm to our son’s bean bag then any father would acknowledge, I know that most of them don’t work, and I’m only going to share with you the best one for cleaning faux leather beanbags the right way:

To clean faux leather perfectly, use saddle soap! Click here to try it!

Use a good cleaning product!

Unfortunately, because most faux leather beanbags are used by teenagers and other “careless” people, they are susceptible to being stained and harmed in the most “cruel” ways, and even though I tend to use my son’s beanbag when I’m with him, I always notice that it’s in worse condition than when I left it some few days ago!

That’s why I highly advise you to choose a good cleaning product, stay away from using the traditional techniques for cleaning faux leather fabrics, like vinegar and warm water, and just stick to this one: Blue Magic, it’s an amazing vinyl cleaning product that will also work with your faux leather bean bag perfectly.

Just apply some few drops and wipe very gently, it will get rid of most difficult stains and will also give it an impressive look.

The second thing we need to talk about is how to maintain it looking great.

And to do this, just use a good conditioner, and don’t worry, although there are so many you can get nowadays, this is the one I use myself, and with my clients’ faux leather items in my shops, and it will give you fantastic results as well: Leather Nova.

It’s a bit on the expensive side, but it will give you impressive results.

How would one go about edging and burnishing a vinyl leather? –especially if it has a cotton/polyester knitted backing.

Same as other faux leather items, use a good conditioner, if not available, use baby oil instead.
