I’ve been working with faux leather fabrics and faux leather items for the last twenty-five years of my life, and trust me, from my experience, most faux leather bags are full of defects, problems, and even dangerous chemicals that may harm your health!
And this is what I’m going to share with you in this post, the traps you must stay away from whenever you are dealing or trying to buy a faux leather bag, avoiding these can save you so much, and reduce your stress level a little and also increase your comfort levels as well.

The first trap you need to stay away from when choosing faux leather bags is the smell.
Most people are going to think that faux leather fabrics are going to smell no matter what they are going to do especially when they are new!
This is not the case, trust me, I’ve been working with faux leather for a very long time to know that most quality brands offer amazing products that are smell free and also of high quality.
Whenever you buy a faux leather bag that smells terrible, you should understand that you have bought a low-quality one, one which is not going to be extremely resistant and durable!

It’s because faux leather fabrics which are smelly are made with low quality ingredients and chemicals, and these are the ones that cause the bad smell, even worse, they are treated with some nasty chemicals which can be very dangerous for your skin and your respiratory system, that’s why I don’t recommend getting faux leather bags that are smelly, avoid this trap all the time!
The second one is related to elasticity.
I know that most of you are going to think that an elastic faux leather fabric is highly durable and very high quality, but I completely disagree!
If you find that your faux leather bag is very elastic and flexible, then, there is something wrong with it! It’s either made of low-quality faux leather fabric or it’s very weak and fragile!
I don’t recommend getting faux leather bags which are highly elastic; always choose ones which are a bit on the tough side, meaning that they will withstand pressure, weight, and also UV rays without getting damaged easily!
Remember that your faux leather bag is going to be exposed to a lot of “outside” elements, including sunlight and pollutants as well, which means that its faux leather fabric must be a little tough while also being a little flexible as well.
