I’m not going to lie to you, I’m giving you my bread and butter here, I’m giving you the techniques I use myself for cleaning faux leather furniture, the ones that come to my shop and that need a quick cleaning and restoring.
The reason why I created this website is to help people deal with their faux leather items, more importantly, to help them preserve them and make them look great, even after many years of use.
And an essential step to do this is to clean them properly, and this is what I’m going to talk about in this post, how to clean faux leather furniture the right way.
The best thing I like about faux leather is that it’s not as sensitive and as fragile as real leather, in other words, when you stain a real leather fabric or object, it’s going to be very tough to get rid of it, and sometimes, even impossible!

But when dealing with faux leather, you should understand that it’s made out of plastic like materials and chemicals, in fact, the same chemicals that make plastic are the ones that also make faux leather fabrics, and as such, they don’t absorb liquids and other compounds very easily, nevertheless, you should be careful when cleaning them, and only use the right products.
For example, never use alcohol or bleach to clean your faux leather furniture; they are very damaging and aggressive as well to the chemical compounds that make faux leather.
Let’s now talk about how to clean faux leather furniture very easily:
Whenever you are dealing with a stain in a faux leather furniture, the first thing you should do is to get a dry piece of cloth, preferably a dry sponge, then, wipe very gently and be careful not to scratch your faux leather fabrics, afterword, apply some few drops of warm water, or even better, a faux leather cleaner, they are very affordable and cost only six dollars where I live, wipe very gently and you are done!
It’s this easy, and if you would like to do a very professional cleaning, like the one I do in my shop, take saddle soap and applying it using the same hand movements, very gently and in a circular way, then, let it rest for at least twenty-four hours and apply just a few drops of a faux leather conditioner, and again, let it rest for another twenty-four hours.
And this is how you do a professional cleaning for your faux leather furniture.
