Having a black faux leather sectional at home or in your office can be an amazing experience, it’s very comfortable, stylish, and most brands offer highly durable materials, but when it comes to taking good care of it, especially when it comes to cleaning and maintaining it in proper condition, it’s a headache!
I’ve been working with faux leather for the last twenty-five years, and trust me, I’ve seen many problems that occur because of the black faux leather fabric in many sectionals, and I’m sure this is going to surprise most of you!
Why does a black faux leather sectional cause so many headaches when it comes to cleaning and maintenance?
It’s because of the black color! It’s very easy to stain, absorbs UV rays much more than other colors, and it seems to be quite fragile and weak when it comes to texture, and the worst thing is when it comes to its luster, it loses its shine very quickly!
These are the main reasons why having a black faux leather sectional can be wrecking on your nerves when it comes to cleaning it, but if you apply the steps I’m going to share with you today, it will be very easy.
Use this technique: baby oil!

I’ve offered this advice to many people who were asking me about cleaning their black faux leather items and furniture pieces and it always works.
Baby oil is probably one of the safest products you can use for this purpose, but the only thing I need to warn you about is to avoid baby oil which is scented or colored, after all, you don’t want your sectional to smell like a one year old baby!
Apply some few drops onto a dry sponge, clean your sectional using a dry cloth in order to get rid of dust and other dirt particles, then, apply the oil gently while making sure you do not scratch the surface of the fabric.
This way, you will increase the lifespan of your sectional while also giving it a fantastic brightness.

In my experience, using homemade products in order to increase the lifespan of your faux leather items is not very healthy and safe, that’s why I prefer to use professional solutions, and one of them is using a good faux leather conditioner, the one I use in my shop is by a brand called: Blue Magic, and the wonderful thing is that it’s very cheap and easy to use, I’m sure if you use it like I do, once every six months, your black faux leather section is going to look fantastic all the time.
