Black faux leather fabric – traps to avoid!

January 26, 2015 by Jean-Marc Chateigner Leave a Comment

Today, I would like to talk about black faux leather fabric, more precisely what traps you need to avoid at all costs.

Most people are quite unaware of the fact that there are so many things they should look for whenever they are trying to select the right black faux leather fabrics for upholstery or even clothing uses, and this is what I’m going to talk about in this post, the things you should avoid at all the time.

For all your faux leather maintenance, I highly recommend saddle soap. Click here to get it!

The first one is getting low quality fabric in the first place.

Throughout my professional career, as a faux leather artisan, I’ve dealt with so many manufacturers and so many companies that make black faux leather fabrics, and from my experience, most of them are useless and produce low quality products that are really not suitable for anything worth calling a quality faux leather item!

It’s because I work with faux leather every single day, I know that some brands offer really horrible qualities, in terms of the fabric texture and also in terms of its color.

To clean faux leather perfectly, use saddle soap! Click here to try it!

First, the fabric is either too thin, which is very bad because it’s not going to be resistant, or it’s too thick, in other words, it’s going to be very uncomfortable when you make upholstery products and especially when you make or repair clothing items!

The next thing you should know about low quality black faux leather fabric is that the color is also very important.

And here, I’m talking about the fact that most dyes used to color faux leather fabrics are very aggressive, in other words, they are chemically going to change the molecular structure of the faux leather fabric itself in the process of making it, this will create a much more fragile fabric which is not the best for making the best upholstery or clothing items.

However, on the other hand, there are so many brands which offer some of the best black faux leather fabrics you can use, and from my experience, these are the ones I trust the most:

  • Plassteck Fabrics
  • FABRIC EMPIRE

I’ve worked with these brands for many years and I know that they are to be trusted when it comes to quality black faux leather fabric because their products are of high quality in terms of texture and also in terms of resistance and reliability, and when shopping from them, I’m sure that you will be extremely satisfied.
